Dr Donagh Horgan

Research Consultant

Dr Donagh Horgan is a Research Consultant developing best practice in the area of regenerative placemaking and socio-spatial transformation, leading participatory research for the European Commission and partners – including FUTURE and Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas. He has worked with Innovate Communities since the establishment of the Social Innovation Hub in Ballymun, helping to build a robust ecosystem, methods and approach to support community engagement and participation. An interdisciplinary designer,  innovation consultant and academic researcher he brings together diverse knowledge on sustainable global development, and experience from across the world – practising as an architect and urban planner. Alongside his work with IC, he leads a living lab on urban leisure and tourism in Rotterdam, Netherlands; and with select organisations such as the Centre for Public Impact (Bloomberg Philanthropies) and UNDP – towards improved quality of life and environments.

As Manager of the Ballymun Job Centre, he provides job training and employment services to local residents. With his research expertise, Mick has co-authored reports on unemployment and employer attitudes towards hiring. His broad skillset makes him a valuable asset to any organization seeking to make a positive impact in their community.
