Capacity building in system thinking for Communities
Project stage: Making the Case
The problem: There is a skill deficit in Ireland and Europe in system leadership. Contemporary and entrenched volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous societal problems cannot be solved by traditional ways of thinking and doing.
Target Groups: Individuals, community organisations, sports clubs, front-line services, local authorities, schools, local education and training boards and local area partnerships.
Geographic Area: Nationwide (Ireland).
Partners (joint): Community Enterprise Association Ireland.
Solution: Build the capacity and apply the skills of collaborative leadership to enable connectivity and joint learning, trust-building and empowered action among stakeholders who share a common goal within and across a system to deliver a solution to a local problem or revise a plan to an existing solution, providing supports that allow continuity and growth of these collective plans.
Funders: Department of Rural and Community Development (pilot).
Impact forecasted: Local communities have the capacity to work collectively to begin to solve local challenges.
Next step: Learning from our initial pilot run in 2022 and building to ideate a refined model to co-create with communities and prototype in 2023.
